I didn&#8217;t think the art director would let me do another cover so soon (my last one was in September) but I guess I made a good case for it. (As I recall, it was something along the lines of &#8220;Pleeeease??!&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ellenforney.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/forney_strangercover.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ellenforney.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/forney_strangercover.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"forney_strangercover\" width=\"400\" height=\"553\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-660\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Triangle Choke, or Ballard Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu Alliterates Artfully&#8221;<\/em> (an admittedly tortured shout-out to my school, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ballardbjj.com\/index.php\">Ballard BJJ<\/a>. &#8220;Alliterates Artfully&#8221; -??)<\/p>\n<p>A few people have asked how many covers I&#8217;ve done. My first was in 1993 &#8211; it was also my first paid job as an illustrator &#8211; but after that I wasn&#8217;t sure. So I decided to go through my archives, and rounded up nine. <!--more--> I&#8217;m pretty sure I got all of them, but by &#8220;my archives&#8221; I mean a variety of ripped folders, overstuffed envelopes, and plastic sleeves. Back in the creaky ol&#8217; mid-nineties I still used to hand in my originals, and in a fit of organizational pique several years ago I threw out my yellowing copies of the newspapers. This image is also the cover for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lastgasp.com\/d\/31525\/\">Best Erotic Comics 2008<\/a> (Last Gasp), which, interestingly, is featured on BoingBoing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boingboing.net\/2008\/12\/18\/susie-bright-greta-c.html\">right now<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ellenforney.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/bellydancermarch1998_lorez.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ellenforney.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/bellydancermarch1998_lorez.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"bellydancermarch1998_lorez\" width=\"400\" height=\"543\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-664\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMarch, 1998. I could only find the artwork for this one. (I remember drawing it around the time of my 30th birthday, though. International Women&#8217;s Day = my birthday, March 8.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ellenforney.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/shawnwcollabapril1997_lorez.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ellenforney.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/shawnwcollabapril1997_lorez.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"shawnwcollabapril1997_lorez\" width=\"400\" height=\"548\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-669\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nApril, 1997, collaboration with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shawnwolfe.com\/\">Shawn Wolfe<\/a>.
