Lustlab Ad of the Week: 2/7

Years ago, Danielle introduced me to her friend, “Weber,” an expert with rope. It was a long time until it occurred to me (duh) that his name was a pun: “Webber.”

See Crumb’s Art! Come to My Party!

There’s an amazing exhibit of R. Crumb’s work right now at the Frye Art Museum. Kelly O did a video of me standing in the gallery, talking about Crumb’s work, my own work, and booties and boots.

I tried to use Greek (and “Greek”) lettering for the whole ad, but it was really incomprehensible. It was pretty entertaining to write out, though.

This woman said that she likes “dark” artists like Odd Nerdrum, Zdzislaw Beksinski, and Joel-Peter Witkin. Another never-used reference book! I pulled out my collection of creep-o Witkin photographs and painted, scratched, and blotted my way through this week’s cartoon.

So, yes, a vixen is a female fox (ooh, sexy, slinky) but the next definition says “a woman who is quarrelsome, shrewish, or malicious.” Be forewarned!

I used an old toothbrush for the ink splatters, something my dad used to do on his watercolor paintings.

This week’s issue of The Stranger is about the size of a pamphlet, so my cartoon is on a one-week hiatus. Instead, dear blog-reader, here is the back cover art for the book collection, featuring full-color versions of a few non-nudity ads. (In my original design, one of the ads showed a woman in a strap-on, to which my publisher said “Mm, nah.”)
